(FADE IN)
EXT. DYNASTY BALTIMORE – NIGHT
We see the dome city of Dynasty Baltimore, the largest city
afloat above the clouds of Venus. The city is alive with
activity.
Rather than a moon, a massive spherical mirror hangs in the
sky. Reflecting the sunlight, it gives Venus the illusion of
night.
SUPER: DYNASTY BALTIMORE. Year 900 After the End
As we zoom into the bustling neon metropolis, we hear
AMBULANCE SIRENS, and then VOICES.
YOUNG WOMAN (V.O.)
...Sounded like the War of Worlds
part II in there, the way she was
screaming. But then she walked
outside fine as can be, not a
scratch on her...
NEO LAW-ENFORCER 1 (V.O.)
We'll take it from here. Get inside
and lock the doors.
NEO LAW-ENFORCER 2 (V.O.)
Hey! He's got a pulse!
NEO LAW-ENFORCER 1 (V.O.)
You serious?!
Finally we stop at the Endo Crown in District Endo, a
brownstone surrounded by LifeCrane ambulances and hover
police cruisers. It stands like an oasis of luxury amid filth
and urban decay.
20-somethings try to peek through the horde of NEO LAW
ENFORCERS gathered around.
INT. ENDO HOSPITAL - ICU - NIGHT
Now we're in the victim's POV. We watch the doors BURST open
as we're rushed to ICU. The wheels of our gurney SQUEAK on
the floor.
On either side of you is a nurse pulling your gurney along.
Sweat droplets pour off their anxiety-induced faces.
A SLOW, STEADY BEEP. Fade out, beat, then fade in as if your
eyes had closed and reopened.
NURSE
We're losing him, doctor!
Beat. Fade to black as if your eyes closed. This time they
don't reopen, the steady beep slowing to a FLATLINE.
DOCTOR (V.O.)
Time of death... Cycle Friday,
11:45 APM.
INT. ENDO HOSPITAL – HOSPITAL ROOM – NIGHT
Fade in on a brightly lit hospital room. Someone lies on the
bed, covered head to toe in a white sheet. Clearly dead.
Clearly abandoned.
But then the person rises. The sheets fall off to reveal a 21-
year-old MAN with a wholesome look about him, more beautiful
than handsome. He wears only briefs, no shirt or shoes.
He looks around, utterly confused. He stretches out his arms
in front of him. Sees nothing strange. His brows furrow.
TEXT: Where are you? Who are you...?
The player is now controllable. To proceed, have him get out
of bed.
The player can move the cursor to interact with his

bed.
The floor cabinets below the sink.
A painting of a bright light on the wall.
Clicking on the window:
The background changes to the cityscape of Dynasty Baltimore.
Buildings that touch the uppermost atmosphere seem to go on
forever in every direction. Interactive ads wash the city in
neon lights, hover cars zipping past, as do cars on the
ground.
We hear HORNS HONKING and MUSIC BLASTING, above and below.
TEXT: You look below at a city bursting with energy. Is this
your home? You feel like a stranger in a strange place. If
only you could remember... You become determined to piece
together how you got here.
Player backs away from the window and is controllable again.

REPORTER
Breaking news. The daughter of
Martin Roland is reported missing
after her boyfriend was found dead
outside her Endo apartment.
As the reporter talks, the camera fades in on a photo of
KRISTA ROLAND, 21, a freckle-nosed girl next door.
REPORTER (V.O.)
Krista Roland, the 21-year-old
daughter of Martin and Natalie
Roland, lived in the Endo Crown
with boyfriend, Guy Baptiste...
Just as the reporter mentions Guy's name, a photo of GUY
BAPTISTE appears: a Black man with a thick beard and big
curly hair.
IF the player has seen his reflection in the mirror, Player
will be taken aback. They look remarkably similar, almost the
same.

KRISTA
It's beautiful!

As Player walks towards the door, we hear a WOMAN SCREAM in
the hallway. Player is taken aback.
????
!
Player stands. We hear HURRIED FOOTSTEPS getting closer, and
closer...
Player backs away from the door.
TEXT: Someone is approaching...
A plasmatic portal, a GATEWAY OPENS behind Player. He whips
around, backs away as an APPARITION crawls out of it, an
archetypical ghost with angel wings.
It stares at Player, blood on its brain. It swings at him as
he backs away, his eyes all pupil. Player shields his face to
block the assault. In doing so, he stumbles and falls.
On the floor, all Player can do is watch his killer float
towards him. But then it stills, staring. Body twitching,
getting ready for something. Player SCREAMS and turns away,
but it won't save him from his inevitable doom.
Its body straight as an arrow, the apparition dives towards
him like a torpedo, as if to leap inside him!
But then the door BURSTS open behind Player, kicked in by
DANTOR, a bald amazon with skin the dark of onyx. She has the
face of a 60 year old woman but the physique of an athlete.
The scars over her face and body tell a story of a warrior
forged by war.
Her two-piece leather outfit is powder-white, one hand tight
around the handle of a sword as long as she is tall. In the
other hand is a shield.
DANTOR
Not today, Phantom!
She LEAPS in front of Player and uses her sword to shield
Player from the monster's attack. When the being SLAMS into
her sword, it's knocked back several feet.
Wide-eyed, Player looks up at his rescuer.
DANTOR
Don't just sit there! Fight!
Player scrambles to his feet and cowers behind Dantor, who
looks annoyed at him for a beat, but then faces the
apparition, sword at the ready.
DANTOR
Want him, Big Boy? Come and get
him!
The apparition flies towards them.
BATTLE: Apparition
DESCRIPTION: A stereotypical ghost with angel wings.
The player has control of the protagonist, but he can't hurt
the beast. He's at level 1 and has no skills yet. On the
other hand, Dantor has a ton of skills and health. She cuts
through the monster like paper.
After the monster has been defeated, trigger Battle Event 1.
Battle Event 1
The ELECTRIC SOUND of gateways opening. More ghosts appear.
DANTOR
Shit! More gateways!
One of the ghosts lounges at the player. His LP drops to 0
and he collapses.
DANTOR
No!
????
...!
The player's LP is raised 1 point, bringing him back from KO.
He casts Sabra, a low-level Moon elemental and kills the
ghost that attacked him.
Dantor kills the other one with a Spiritual elemental.
The player gains a level.
S4/Aftermath 1

a) GATEWAYS...?
DANTOR
Yes... Windows to the Outer Realm
that appear when reality's been...
disturbed.

Text: Received Neon Shield x 1!
DANTOR
Oh, and found these on the way

beats fighting... like that.
Dantor tosses the larger of the two bags she's carrying at
Player.
Player is controllable. Click on the bag to open it, finding
scrubs and hospital slippers inside. Put them on Player to
dress him. Click on the door to proceed.
Clicking on the bag
Text: Left with little choice, you join Dantor.
DANTOR
Oh, and... put this on.
Dantor pulls out a wearable computer that looks like a
wireless electronic armband. Facing outward is a small
screen. On the other side of the device is a compartment
where a cord is stored.
DANTOR
Heard you were good with
computers...
PLAYER
!
FLASH.
INT. COLLEGE APARTMENT - GUY'S ROOM - NIGHT
Wearing a similar device, Guy sits on the bed in front of a
laptop computer.
GUY
I'll show 'em what's "unhackable".
We see what's on his computer screen: HARMONY'S homepage.
He turns his arm over so that the compartment is facing him.
He opens it and pulls out a cord that he jacks into the
computer.
He waits. And waits. Then the screen fills with code. His
eyes bulge as his lips spread in a big smile.
FLASH.
INT. ENDO HOSPITAL – HOSPITAL ROOM – NIGHT
Player takes the wearable computer from Dantor and excitedly
slips it on. He cheers.
DANTOR
Your chip was likely damaged in the
attack that landed you here, so a
new one's in there.
Player nods.
DANTOR
Now you can access the menu screen
and do a bunch of stuff I won't get
into because it's self-explanatory.
Even if you've never seen one.
- END SCENE.
Now the player can access the menu screen to do the standard
RPG stuff, like restore LP & SP, save his game, change party
members, etc.
He can also use his computer to jack into sealed item boxes
and some locked doors, to hack into their system (triggering
hacking mini game) and unlock them.
Clicking on the door before getting dressed:
DANTOR
Where do you expect to go like
that? Open the bag. Quickly!
- END SCENE.
_____________________________________________________________
DUNGEON #1 - Endo Hospital
_____________________________________________________________
The player is taken to the first dungeon, which is where the
RPG elements come into play.
Characters skillsets are divided by Magic and Abilities. They
gain magic as they level up, but Abilities are all physical
and gained by equipping different weapons. Each weapon will
teach that character an Ability. For example, the knife
teachers Player the Ability "Bash". He can only use Bash when
equipped with a Shield, but if he uses the Shield or Bash
enough times, he can learn Stab permanently.
Dantor's Sword teaches her the Ability "Deep Cut". She has
two other Abilities already: "Charge" and "Protect".
The goal is to get to the ground floor and leave. Along the
way, gateways appear, and a battle will start.
At this point, there isn't much the main character can do but
defend and heal himself with vitamins. Enemies will hit him
hard until he levels up a few times. They are too weak to
hurt Dantor in any way. When she isn't slicing them with her
sword, she's blowing them to dust with her high-powered
magic. She has the spell "Mending", which provides mid-level
healing for one target.
On each floor, the player will find a Vitamin, Blueberry,
Conditioner, or an Energizer. There are no treasure chests.
Items are found on the floor.
The player is on the 3rd floor.
Star of the first battle:
DANTOR
Listen up. Whenever you equip a new
weapon, you can use an Ability. Use
it enough times and you'll master
it. Can use it even when you change
weapons. If you haven't mastered
that ability, you'll forget how to
use it when you equip a new weapon.
Something to keep in mind. Some
Abilities are tricker to master
than others...
- END.
If the player reenters Guy's hospital room:
INT. ENDO HOSPITAL – HOSPITAL ROOM - NIGHT
The player can talk to Dantor.
DANTOR
Your friend may be out there. And
if she is, we'll find her. But we
have to go. Your Madam will clean
up the mess here.
The EMERGENCY ALARM rings in the background.
The elevators are down, so the player will have to take
staircases to the ground floor.
Dead people on the floor: nurses, doctors, patients and
visitors throughout the hospital. Blood on the walls, the
floors.
Most rooms in the hospital are locked, but a few are open.
The player can find various items in there as well as talk to
Dantor.
Walk & Talk #1

INT. ENDO HOSPITAL – 2nd FL PATIENT'S ROOM 2 – NIGHT
DANTOR
Pay attention to your body. If you

vulnerable, Phantoms won't hesitate
to take advantage of it.
INT. ENDO HOSPITAL - 1ST FLOOR NURSE STATION - NIGHT
Trembling in fear, a WOMAN pokes her head up from the Nurses'
desk. When Dantor and Player spot her, she quickly ducks
under the desk, shaking.
Dantor approaches her.
DANTOR
Miss? It's all right... We're
getting out of here. Follow us,
okay?
Slowly, the woman looks up to see Dantor standing over her.
She shakes, spooked. But then she reaches up and grabs
Dantor's hands.
WOMAN
Th... Thank you! Oh, bless you!
Then the blue green FLASH of a gateway!
Dantor's eyes grow wide in shock. Player gets in his fighting
stance.
DANTOR
Behind you!
WOMAN
What...?!
Dantor pushes her out of the way and the woman falls to the
floor. She looks straight ahead, more confused than afraid.
A gateway materializes. The woman's staring right at it but
doesn't react.
WOMAN
Wh-What is it?!
1) A GATEWAY, DAMN IT!
The woman looks at Player.
WOMAN
A what...?!

Cut to S5A.

Something is crawling out of the gateway!
DANTOR
Protect that woman. I'll handle
this!
Player nods. He turns to the woman as Dantor draws her sword.
Standing now, the woman stares back at him with a blank
stare. A tear rolls down her face.
Player backs up as she sloppily steps towards him.
WOMAN
Help me... AAAHHH!
The woman SCREAMS as she EXPLODES in a mess of red.
A shadow curries away. Player jumps back. Having dispatched
of the phantom that crawled out of the gateway that opened in
front of Dantor, she turns to Player.

Cut to S5B.

Dantor runs after it.
DANTOR
Hurry! Before it escapes!
Player nods and gives chase. They corner it and it lunges at
them, triggering a battle.
BATTLE: Angel
DESCRIPTION: Biblically accurate angel. A spherical being
with one large eye and smaller ones on both sides of it.
Wings going all around it.
Aftermath 2
Player's eyes are saucers. He's too shocked to function.
PLAYER
!
He panics at Dantor, who maintains her composure.
DANTOR
Phantoms want to exist again as
physical beings. Problem is that
the bodies they choose aren't
strong enough to contain them.
PLAYER

DANTOR
Defeating The Darkness will stop
the gateways. But we'll need more

Dantor walks up the hall with a fierce strut.

not "God". Despite what White Robes
think.
- END SCENE.
Walk & Talk #2 - After scene 5

INT. ENDO HOSPITAL – GROUND FL PATIENT'S ROOM 2 - NIGHT
Talk to the scared nurse to heal. She's holding onto a
frightened bald teen girl.
NURSE
What's going on?! I couldn't leave
my patient behind... I just
couldn't! Are you hurt? I'll see
what I have...
FLASH. CHIME.
NURSE
That should do it. Good luck out
there...
But I suggest finding somewhere to
hide and STAYING there! Satan's at
work...
PATIENT (1)
The Bible warns that Satan could
target anyone, anytime, especially
sinners... I left the mall with
lipstick once. I didn't mean to; it
was an accident! But a sin's a sin,
right...? Did I... cause this?
NURSE (2)
Make an appointment with Rev. Law,
soon as you can. Demons are strong,
but God is stronger.
DANTOR
This isn't their fault. How could
they think that?!
(SIGH)
Damballah would never have His
children blame themselves for
something like this... He'd sooner
blame Himself.
INT. ENDO HOSPITAL – LOBBY - NIGHT
Bodies on the floor, some with footprints on their backs.
Approach the entrance to cut to Scene 7.
In the distance, HEAVY FOOTSTEPS. Getting LOUDER, closer.
Dantor guards Player.
DANTOR
This feeling... shit!
She turns to Player. Takes something off her finger and hands
it to Player: a gold ring with a somewhat alien design going
around it.
DANTOR
Wear this. It's a Sun Ring;
Darkness repellent.
Dantor winks.
DANTOR
Don't worry about me... Got
something of a Trump Card in here.
She gestures to her bag, then looks fiercely at Player.
DANTOR
I'll hold it off long enough for
you to escape. Once outside, look
for a Shrine. Papa Legba'll explain
everything. What you are now --
what you've always been... and the
work you must do.
In the distance, POUNDING FOOTSTEPS. Getting even closer.
DANTOR
Go. It's... fine. Had to get off
this ride sometime, right...?
[Player]... Live, okay? Don't
survive.... but LIVE, Trezo...
PLAYER
!
TEXT: Trezo...?
Dantor faces forward, sword at the ready. Outside the glass
doors, a shadow creeps toward.
DANTOR
There's an exit in the basement!
Player backs away. Once, twice. But he stops, still looking
at Dantor.
DANTOR
GO! NOW!
Player jumps. He runs off.
INT. ENDO HOSPITAL – BASEMENT – NIGHT
The player finds himself in the hospital's basement, a dusty,
dirty place not unlike most basements. Dantor has left the
party. The goal is to get to the exit in the back. This part
of the dungeon has only one floor, and the enemies die
easily.
When the player's midway to the exit, we hear a LOUD BANG
from above. Silence. Then THUMPING FOOTSTEPS, making their
way down.
The player turns around. That half of the basement gets
extremely dark. The FOOTSTEPS get even louder, closer.
Whatever making them now in the basement.
The player automatically turns back around and moves forward.
If the player tries to backtrack to the first half of the
basement, he will automatically turn back around.
When the player gets to the end, he'll receive a prompt:
TEXT: YOUR BREATH GETS HEAVY… PROCEED?
1) YES.
Cut to scene 8.
2) NO.
The player is turned back around.
INT. ENDO HOSPITAL - BASEMENT EXIT – NIGHT
The area gets darker.
TEXT: The Darkness is closing in!
The player turns towards The Darkness. Sees nothing but pitch
blackness.
GIRL'S BOOMING VOICE
You're mine...
DANTOR (V.O.)
NO!
DANTOR emerges from the darkness, PANTING and bleeding. She
guards Player.
DANTOR
Don't touch him!
GIRL'S BOOMING VOICE
My power was stolen from me... and
given to YOU!
TAYLOR MEAD steps forward. She wears shiny white armor and
carries a scythe longer than she is tall. She has purple
streaks in her hair.
Taylor's portrait: her hateful scowl spoils a lovely face.
Even though the weight of her power and anger makes her seem
older, she's got the face of a 15-year-old. Her eyes are
purple.
GIRL
I shall reclaim my power and place
at my Lord's side. You will NOT get
in my way!
DANTOR
Sweet girl, please...
Girl smirks.
GIRL
She still can't hear you. But they
can...
Gateways open around Dantor and Player. Creatures crawl out
of them, then merge into a massive beast.
DANTOR
Agghhh! Take care of that, will
you? I'll... handle The Darkness.
Boss: Neti
Description: A giant insect with angel wings, yellow green
liquid oozing off its body.
Aftermath 3
Dantor is bleeding heavily.
DANTOR
I won't run any longer. I can't
save this precious girl...
She whips out a bomb from her bag. Player is taken aback.
DANTOR
But I can still save humankind!
GIRL
...And what, endanger the cattle
still inside here? Cattle to whom
you claim to be devoted?
DANTOR
...
Staring at The Darkness, Dantor sheds a single tear. She
turns to Player.
DANTOR
Go...
PLAYER
...?
DANTOR
Hurry! Get out of here!
Dantor pushes Player outside.
EXT. ENDO HOSPITAL - REAR ENTRANCE – NIGHT
The player finds himself outside the hospital. There's a
CLICK.
Player whips around. He tries to jerk the door open, but it
doesn't so much as crack.
PLAYER
...
He turns back around, facing forward.
- END SCENE.
EXT. ENDO - NIGHT
Hip young people walk the streets, large brownstones on
either side (think Bushwick, Brooklyn).
The player is controllable. The hospital's rear entrance is
locked, and if the player tries to reenter the hospital from
the front, a prompt will say: You don't need to be here.
The goal is to get to the Terminal Station. Take a few steps
in any direction and:
TEXT: The air is unsettling... You better get out of here
fast. (camera pans to the terminal station)
Gateways open all over. People unknowingly walk past phantoms
or stand idly, continuing their conversations as Phantoms
creep towards them.
Phantoms are seen leaping inside various people, and once
their bodies BURST, the phantoms turn towards Player and give
chase.
Should these phantoms reach Player, they will attempt to leap
inside him but are pushed back by his power, triggering a
difficult battle.
TEXT: It isn't worth it to fight. Just keep running!
Midway to the terminal station: the screen will SHAKE. Player
will turn toward the hospital, which EXPLODES in an eruption
of red, yellow and pale blue fire.
The explosion grows. Player tries to outrun it but fails: the
blast sends him flying. He slams onto the asphalt face-first.
Passes out. Fade out.
Beat. Fade in. Slowly, Player opens his eyes, pushes himself
up and turns on his back, seeing what Endo has been reduced
to.
Mass destruction. Pale flames dance atop buildings. Sidewalks
caked in ash and corpses, some completely incinerated.
Buildings are totaled, shops and houses destroyed.
TEXT: Is this... the power of The Darkness? Dantor's bomb
couldn't have done this much damage on its own.
Player brings himself to stand.
TEXT: Dantor told you to go to a shrine. What could you find
there?
- END.
The goal is simply to walk out of the district to the world
map.
Gateways no longer form. Lingering phantoms burst, leaving
behind gooey puddles.
Text: Gateways have all disappeared. Has The Darkness been
defeated?
Along the way, the player will pass by young people crying on
the streets, or over the bodies of their dead friends and
roommates. The player can talk to them. Some will cry that
the world is ending, "for good this time". They cry out for
God to save them from the devil.
Other people will cry out on the roads or street, missing an
arm or leg, or both. These people can't be talked to. They
simply CRY.
